Welcome to Govt. Degree College Kumarsain

Situated in the lap of the scenic mountain town of Narkanda, Kumarsain the erstwhile capital of princely state of Kumharsain under the British Raj is about 80 Km. from the capital of Himachal Pradesh-Shimla. Kumarsain is famous for its religious and cultural heritage and lies one Km beside National Highway-05 from Bharara Village which is 20 Km from Narkanda towards Rampur Bushahr. Kumarsain is surrounded by scenic apple and cherry orchards for all sides. At the highest point of town, near the Kaali Mata Mandir at Digadhar’, is situated the temple of learning, the Government Degree College, Kumarsain.

The college was established in 2014, vide Notification No. EDN-A-Ka (1)/2014 dt. 15-1-2014 of the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh as a co-educational institution. The first academic session commenced in the year 2014 with admission to the B.A and B.Com first year of the three year degree course. In the last session 2023-24, the college had 145 students on its rolls. The college started functioning in the building and premises of the department of horticulture, just below the new campus. The college was run temporarily in the tin sheds erected from time to time as per requirement, need and strength of students. The present building and related infrastructure came up after completion in 2024 and for the academic session 2024-25, the college has been shifted from the old premises to the new complex which has ample space to cater to the needs of academic and non-academic nature related to the student’s faculty and administration. Now, the college has adequate number of class-rooms, two smart class-room, one common room for girls, NSS & Rovers and Ranger room, a well-stocked college library, a big reading room. The focus at new campus well be on all-round development of its students laying immense emphasis on sports and extra-curricular activities subjects like Geography, Economics, Physical Education and Public Administration shall be introduced, as soon as the approval of the Government is received.

Govt. College Kumarsain has now completed one decade of its existence. This institute has been a great boon for the weaker section of the society who cannot afford to move out of Kumarsain to complete college education. This institute of higher learning focuses on shaping the local energetic youth into educated, learned and responsible citizen by imparting quality education with the sincere and constant efforts of its dedicated teachers.
